Call for Entries

PRAVO LJUDSKI First-Time Directors Competition Programme
We are happy to announce the 5th edition of the Human Rights Film Festival PRAVO LJUDSKI that will take place from the 10th until the 15th of November 2010 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During its previous editions, PRAVO LJUDSKI has established itself as a specific and recognizable public space promoting socially engaged non-fictional audiovisual artworks.
Driven by the commitment to democratic culture and human rights values, Pravo Ljudski is dedicated to the development of critical spectatorship through independent art cinema and socially engaged documentaries. We believe in critical, poetic, illuminating art forms embracing the beauty of differences and critically engaged with the past and currents we live in.
The PRAVO LJUDSKI First-Time Directors Competition Programme aims at promoting and discovering new films and new directors hence creating space for dialogue and communication for young and new generation of documentary filmmakers in the world of contemporary independent cinema.
PRAVO LJUDSKI now invites emerging, first (or second) time directors from Europe to submit their socially engaged documentaries before the 15th of May 2010. The films should be produced after January 1st, 2009.
Pravo Ljudski especially encourages socially engaged (in the broadest terms), innovative and creative works, exploring new trends and new forms in documentary film-making.
The socially engaged documentaries submitted for the first appearance competition programme should be either mid-length (more than 30 minutes and less than 60 minutes in length) or feature-length (more than 60 minutes in length).
Please note that shorts can be submitted but, if selected by the Festival, will be screened within the out of competition sections.
Please note that we refer to Europe in geographic terms! We accept first appearance documentaries from film-makers from the following countries: Albania, Austria, Belgium, Belorussia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Island, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Moldavia, Montenegro, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UK, Ukraine The decision on the selected films in competition will be known as soon as possible after July 15 th, 2010. The selection of the submitted socially engaged documentaries will be based EXCLUSIVELY on the excellence of artworks.
